Scientists Produce Rubber from Dandelion
After the discovery that latex, the main raw material for the production of rubber, can also be obtained from dandelions, institutes and companies have invested in the production of tires and auto parts from this new product.
The latex sap is removed from the root of the dandelions plant. New processes and methods of production and harvesting are being developed to utilize them and replace the traditional rubber derived from tropical trees.
The dandelion used is Russian, which can be found and cultivated in northern and western Europe, making transport routes between production sites shorter, contributing to the sustainable use of existing resources.
